JAMMU, May 10: The J&K Silambam (Stick Fencing) boys and girls teams excelled in 11th National Championship which was held in Tamil Nadu, recently.
In the three day long championship, J&K player s won 9 medals in different age categories.
In senior boys category, Rahul Sharma and Rohit Panjotra won the bronze medals, while in senior girls category, Mannat Yousaph and Ishika Sawhney won individual bronze medals.
In Junior boys, Anil Singh, Varun Sharma, Gulshan Mehra and Gourav singh, while in
Junior girls, Shine Mehra sparkled in the Championship.
In Sub Junior boys, Akshat Verma and Aniket Khajuria, while in Sub junior girls, Anjali Sharma won the bronze medals. Anthony Mattoo accompanied the team as coach.
The president of the J&K Stick Fencing Association, Sunil Mattoo lauded the efforts of the players for good show in the Championship.
