JAMMU, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir scored 209 runs in their first innings, while Maharashtra were 31/3 on Day-1 in the Elite Group-C Ranji Trophy match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune in Maharashtra.
Earlier, put into bat Jammu and Kashmir began the first innings on a disastrous note and at one juncture were struggling at 42/5 in 13.2 overs, however, opening batsman Ahmed Banday (76) and all-rounder Abid Mushtaq (50) helped the team to score a decent total of 209 runs in 83.5 overs. Fazil Rashid (22) and Ramdayal (20) also contributed to the team’s total. From Maharashtra, Anupam Sanklecha was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets by conceding 56 runs in his 15 overs, while Mukesh Choudhary, Digvijay Singh Deshmukh and Satyajeet Bachhav bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Maharashtra were 51/3 at stumps on Day-1 today.
Murtaza Trunkwala was unbeaten on 31 runs, while Ruturaj Gaikwad (10), Naushad Shaikh (9) and Satyajeet Bachhav (0) were the three Maharashtra batsmen dismissed. From Jammu and Kashmir, Abid Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 wickets by conceding 14 runs in his 4.4 overs, while Umar Nazir Mir claimed 1 wicket by giving away 12 runs in his 3 overs.
