JAMMU, Dec 3: The J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SKK), Jammu, celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities (World Divyang Day) at its School for Hearing Handicapped with enthusiasm and cultural fervour. Students performed dances on popular songs, with Punjabi Gidda being a highlight, choreographed by teachers using sign language.
Principal Roshan Bhan, the chief guest, explained the Day’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, emphasizing understanding disability issues, advocating rights, and promoting integration into society. He encouraged students to overcome challenges and excel, highlighting their potential to become responsible citizens.
Students also shared their daily experiences, demonstrating determination and positivity. Parents and teachers attended the event. The celebration concluded with refreshments distributed among the students, marking an inspiring and inclusive observance of World Divyang Day.
