J&K to participate in three national championships at Telangana

JAMMU, Sept 29: Three contingents from Jammu and Kashmir comprising of 79 students are all set to participate in three National Level Sports Championships in the disciplines of Boxing, Chess and Taekwondo during the first week of October at Telangana.
This was stated by Director Youth Services and Sports Department, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed. While providing details about the participation of the State youth in these sports extravaganzas, he said that youth have always shown extra ordinary talent in every field of life and sports is no exception.
“Be it boys or girls, they have been doing really well in varied disciplines of sports. Directtions have been passed to subordinate staff to provide equal opportunities to the youth of the State and encourage them in showcasing their hidden sports talent”, he added.
While providing details about the participation of State teams in the forthcoming events, Sheikh Fayaz said that the three contingents comprising of 43 girls and 36 boys have already left for taking part in the championships.
Director also stated that giving equal opportunities to the youth of all the three regions of the State is his foremost priority and have passed-on clear guidelines to my field staff and the selection committees of different games to adopt a fair and unbiased approach while selecting teams for different sports championships.
He summed up his views by stating that in the other forthcoming national events too, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) will send well trained teams for participation with good results from the same.
