JAMMU, Jan 21: The Senior Wing Naval Cadets of Jammu and Kashmir NCC Directorate made the State proud by outclassing the Cadets of other Directorates in All India Nau Sainik Competition-14, which was held at Naval Base Karwal in Karnataka recently.
Cadet Manvi Sharma, who hails from Samba and is pursuing her graduation from Government Degree College Samba was adjudged best Cadet across all other 17 Directorates.
She achieved this feat by outshining the competitors in the field of general knowledge, firing, drill and personal interview.
Manvi is now part of youth exchange programme, where she will be given a lifetime opportunity to visit foreign ports on Naval cruise onboard on Indian Navy Ship.
She is keen to become pilot in Indian Air Force or Indian Navy.
In this competition, other four girls from Jammu and Kashmir Directorate namely Arti Devi, Malvika Raina, Diphsy Khajuria and Shagun Sambayal bagged first New Year gift for the State by winning the coveted gold medal for standing first in Ship Modelling Competition and bronze medal in Health and Hygiene.
The achievers attributed their win to intense preparation and training of J&K Directorate team at Nagrota by the Naval Instructors of 1 J&K Naval Unit NCC Srinagar, under the helm of Lieutenant Commander Sujit K Singh, OC of the Unit and under the supervision and directions of Brigadier Satish Ratnaparkhi, Group Commander NCC Group, Srinagar and overseen by Maj Gen Neraj Verma, Additional Directorate General NCC J&K.
