JAMMU, Dec 24: J&K men stormed into Pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing 70th senior national basketball championship being played at Ludhiana, beating a spirited Manipur 77-47 in their last pool engagement.
Highly skilful Manipur side put up initial resistance with sharp counter attacks and quick passes down the court, but their shooting under the basket and off the periphery was off target due to smart, compact offense of the J&K men.
J&K men made best of the height advantage they had over their ooponents and controlled the boards to barge into handsome lead of 10 points at half time.
From the beginning of the third quarter, J&K men cut and shot at will off quick fast breaks drawing handsome baskets and fouls.
Coach Aman Sharma fielded entire bench in the fourth quarter as the lead swelled to over 30 points.
Ranbir Singh and Shubham Sharma were mainstay of J&K’s victory while Amanjot, Jaskirat, Gourav and iqbal chipped in with useful contributions.
J&K will take on Chandigarh in their Pre quarter final tomorrow.
