J&K lost by inning & 180 runs against Rajasthan

*Zaid shines in a losing battle

JAMMU, Dec 3: Right-handed middle-order batter Mohammad Zaid blossomed with the willow as he hit magnificent 77 runs in the second essay after scoring brilliant 92 runs in the first innings against Rajasthan in the Vijay Merchant Trophy match at Vijayawada today.
Though, J&K received a heavy thrashing by an inning and 180 runs, yet Zaid displayed extraordinary batting skills to score big half-centuries in both the innings’ of the game.
Earlier, Rajasthan declared their first innings at 540/5 as Rajat Bhagel slammed an unbeaten triple century, scoring 300 runs off 347 deliveries studded with 37 fours and 3 sixes, while S Shaktawat and Abhay Sharma scored 89 and 88 runs respectively. None of the J&K bowlers could make much impact, however, Saksham Sharma bagged 2 wickets.
In reply, J&K bundled out for a meagre total of 188 runs in the first innings, while following on the team again collapsed at 172 runs, thus lost the match by innings and 180 runs. Zaid smashed 13 fours and 3 sixes in 123-ball knock of 92 runs in the first innings and hit 9 boundaries and one six in 129-ball 77 in the second innings. For Rajasthan, Bhavya was the wrecker-in-chief who took 8 wickets in the match, while Ekansh Sharma bagged 5 wickets in the match.
