JAMMU, May 16: The Jammu & Kashmir Kalarippayattu team returned home to a grand welcome after delivering an impressive performance at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 held in Bihar. Greeted with cheers, garlands and applause at Jammu Railway Station, the athletes were lauded by supporters, families, and officials for making the Union Territory proud in this ancient martial art.
Nitin Kumar emerged as a standout performer, clinching a bronze medal in the Chuvadukal (Boys) category, earning recognition from the martial arts community. Other athletes also delivered strong performances, with Anandika Sangotra and Adarishta Manhas finishing 5th in the Long Staff Fight (Girls), while Nitin Kumar and Pratham Vaid secured 6th position in the Long Staff Fight (Boys). Misthi Sharma placed 7th in Chuvadukal (Girls) and Manvi Sharma with Aapurti Saini secured 8th in Long Staff Fight (Girls). Pratham Vaid and Chirag Puri were also applauded for their commendable display in the Sword & Shield event.
Danish Sharma expressed pride in the team’s achievements, stating their discipline and determination reflect the true essence of Kalarippayattu.
