*Naidu scalps 6-wickets

JAMMU, Nov 10: Good knocks by Asif Khan, Pranav Gupta and Muneer Ahmed, coupled with a brilliant partnership of 50 runs for the last wicket between Sahil Sharma and Mehjoor Ali Sofi helped Jammu and Kashmir set a fighting total of 187 runs for Hyderabad in the CK Naidu Under-25 trophy match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
In reply, Hyderabad were 70/3 in 24 overs at stumps on day-3 today, hanging the match in balance as Hyderabad needs another 117 runs to script a win on the last day, with 7 wickets in hand.
Earlier, resuming the day at 78/3, J&K managed a reasonably good total of 251 runs in their second essay in 95.2 overs. Sahil Sharma scored brilliant 43 runs off 62 balls, with the help of 5 boundaries and one six, while Asif Khan top scored with 46 runs off 98 balls, studded with 5 fours and one six. Pranav Gupta (45) and Muneer Ahmed (36) were the other contributors, while Mehjoor Ali Sofi and Amir Aziz contributed valuable unbeaten 13 and 11 runs down the order. However, the highlight of the innings was the last-wicket partnership of 51 runs between Sahil and Sofi. For Hyderabad, medium pace bowler, KP Naidu was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 6 wickets by conceding 68 runs in his 30 overs, while Kamran Khan and S S Palakodeti claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Hyderabad were 70 for 3 when the stumps were drawn today, with SS Palakodeti and VP Patnaik unbeaten on 9 and 10 runs respectively. The batsmen sent back to pavilion included NK Reddy (36), TD Agarwal (9) and PJ Jhala (3). For J&K, Mehjoor Sofi, Sahil Sharma and Amir Aziz shared one wicket apiece.
