J&K Fencers win double bronze at 20th Cadet National Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Sept16: Fencers from Jammu & Kashmir brought pride to the region by winning two bronze medals at the 20th Cadet (U-17) National Fencing Championship, held in Haldwani, Uttarakhand from September 8 to 13.
The Boys Sabre Team featuring Dev Karan Singh Jamwal, Vansh Raina, Harnidh Singh and Vinayak Sharma and the Girls Sabre Team comprising Antalya Jamwal, Sabrena Choudhary, Eknoor Kour and Aahana Gupta, delivered outstanding performances to claim bronze medals in their respective team events.
Vijay Kumar, President of the Jammu & Kashmir Fencing Association (JKFA) and Adv. Supriya Chouhan, Secretary General, congratulated the young achievers. International referee Rashid Ahmed Choudhary also praised their efforts.
Former national and international fencers, including Maninder Pal Singh, Adarsh Salathia, Ujjwal Gupta, Lucky Singh, Javed Ahmed, Mohd Tariq, Abdul Rafiq, Ankush Gupta and Bhisham Singh, extended warm congratulations to the athletes and their families.
The J&K Sports Council lauded the medallists, calling their achievement a testament to dedication and hard work. JKFA also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the coaches in preparing the teams for national success.
