JAMMU, Jan 12: Jammu and Kashmir boxer created another history by entering into the semis of the ongoing 1st Elite Men National Boxing Championship at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Out of four J&K boxers, who created history by entering into the quarterfinal round in 1st Elite Men National Boxing Championship yesterday, only one boxer of the State continued the rhythm of winning in this championship.
J&K boxer Harpal Singh routed Deepak of Orissa in the quarterfinal round and sailed into the semis of the Championship.
Meanwhile, in 49 kg category, Pardeep Sharma of J&K lost to Gagandeep of Punjab, in 60 kg, Dheeraj of J&K was defeated by Kumar Pandit of DND and in 69 kg category, Manjeet Kumar of Orissa crushed Ashish of J&K.
The J&K boxing squad has been led by Anil Kumar Wadhera, senior boxing coach, J&K State Sports Council and Dr Nirmolak Singh, general secretary, J&K Boxing Association.
The six-day long 1st Elite Men National Boxing Championship is being organized by Maharashtra Boxing Association under the aegis of Boxing India Federation at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
