JAMMU, July 10: After making it to the probable list for India Camp earlier, J&K blind cricketers Rohit Sharma and Mohd Azeem today left for Benguluru to attend the 11-day coaching-cum-selection camp for forthcoming World Cup.
The duo of Rohit and Azeem were accompanied by the General Secretary of the Cricket Association for Blind J&K, Ajay Kumar to Jammu Airport for their journey to Benguluru.
It is pertinent to mention here that 56 such talented cricketers from across the country have been picked in the probable list. According to the General Secretary of Cricket Association for Blind J&K, Ajay Kumar, the coaching/selection camp and the World Cup itself will be sponsored by the NTT Data and will be organised by Samarthanam Trust for disable.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be fully supporting the Camp as well as the World Cup itself,” Mr Ajay added.
He further said that BCCI was not supporting the blind cricketers earlier, but from last one year or so, the BCCI is providing a good support to the Cricket Association for Blind in India.
He demanded that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir should provide facilities and assistance to blind cricketers on the analogy of other national players.
Meanwhile, member J&K Sports Council, Ranjeet Kalra hoped that both Rohit and Azeem will bring laurels to the Union Territory by getting the national selectors nod for World Cup team.
