J&K bags 3 medals in 15th National Wushu C’ship

JAMMU, Apr 5: Jammu and Kashmir State bagged 3 bronze medals in 15th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship held at Patanjali Yog Ashram, Haridwar in Uttarakhand, recently.
The Championship, organized by Uttarakhand Wushu Association under the aegis of Wushu Association of India, witnessed participation of pugilists from 35 affiliated units of Wushu Association of India.
During the Championship, Ayesah Hayat bagged bronze in 20 kg girl’s category whereas Raghav Soni and Govind Pal clinched bronze medals in 30 kg and 48 kg men’s category respectively.
H K Lohia, IGP Technical Services, Police Headquarters, J&K, who is also the chairman of Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir (WAJK) today felicitated the National Games medalists at a function organized at Police Headquarters here.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP lauded the performance of pugilists during the Championship. He said that J&K State has been able to produce quality pugilists who had brought laurels to the State.
He urged the medalists to start preparations for the upcoming events and earn name and fame for the State.
He said that the medalists are the role models for the rest of the players and exhorted upon them to improve their game so that they represent the State at the highest level and bring laurels., adding that this will only be possible if they start practicing vigorously and aiming something really big.
Prominent among others, the felicitation function was attended by office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K including Ranjeet Kalra, vice president of the Association and Member BCCI, Vijay Saraf, vice president, Kuldeep Handoo, chief coach of India in Wushu, Kamal Kishore , Ashi Jamwal and international medalist Rajinder Singh.
