J&K bags 17 medals in National Veteran Athletic C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 30: Jammu and Kashmir Veteran Athletes excelled at 38th National Athletic Championship held at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, recently.
J&K participated in the Championship under the chairmanship of Tarsem Lal Basotra, General Secretary of the Association and won 17 medals with 5 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze in the Championship.
In above 45 women, Poonam Sharma won 3 gold medals in 1000 mtrs, 5000 mtrs and 1500 mtrs, while in above 55 women, Sudesh Basotra claimed I bronze in 5000 mtrs walk and n women above 55 years, Pushpa got 1 bronze in 200 mtrs.
In above 60 women, Kanta Butyal won 1 gold in 400 mtrs and 1 bronze each in 100 and 200 mtrs.
In men’s above 65 category, Jasbir Singh claimed gold, while in men’s 60 kg category, Manohar Lal bagged silver in 10000 mtrs.
In above 55 years category, Rajesh Padha won silver in 10000, while in above 45 years men, Jyoti Singh claimed 2 bronze medals and in above 40 category, Riyaz Ahmed claimed 2 silver medals in 10000 and 5000 meters.
