JCC, Diamond Club enter semis of Winter Shield T20 Cup

JAMMU, Apr 4: Defeating their rivals convincingly in their respective quarterfinals, Jammu Cricket Club and Diamond Cricket Club entered the semifinals of the ongoing Winter Shield T20 Cricket Cup, being organised by State Cricket Academy (SCA), J&K State Sports Council under the chairmanship of its Secretary Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary at Parade Ground, here.
In the first match, Diamond Club got the better of Samar Cricket Club in an exciting match by 3 wickets.
Batting first, Samar Cricket Club scored 121 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Kewal top scored with 35 runs, while Gagan and Harpreet contributed 29 and 23 runs respectively. From Diamond Cricket Club, Sarabjot took 3 wickets, while Pawandeep claimed 2 wickets.
Diamond Club, in reply chased the target on the penultimate ball of the innings, losing 7 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Rajinder top scored with 26 runs, while Gurvinder and Navdeep contributed 20 and 18 runs to the total respectively. From Samar CC, Aman took 2 wickets, while Robin, Kewal and Manpreet claimed one wicket each. Sarabjot was declared as the ma of the match.
In another match, JCC defeated Singh Akhnoor by a big margin of 70 runs.
JCC scored a modest total of 118 runs, with Gourav being the top scorer with 41 runs, while Deepak Dogra and Surya contributed 21 and 13 runs respectively. Robin took 3 wickets, while Happy bagged 2 wickets from Singh Akhnoor. Sham Singh Langeh, Sunil and Mittu claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Singh Akhnoor bundled out for a paltry total of 48 runs in 13.5 overs to lose the match by 70 runs. Robin was the only batsman to cross double figure mark, scoring 17 runs. From JCC, Rohit took 3 wickets, while Rahil Singh and Deepak Dogra baggd 2 wickets each and Aman Sharma claimed one wicket.
