Jatin powers JKP XI to lift Eid-Diwali Milan Cricket Cup title

JAMMU, Nov 2: Talented Under-19 batsman Jatin Wadhawan butchered the rival bowlers in his knock of unbeaten 80 runs to help Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI trounce Delhi XI by 20 runs in a thrilling contest to lift the title trophy of the Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup at MA Stadium, here today.
Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while Shakeel Beigh, DIG Jammu was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams alongwith cash award of Rs 25,000 to winning team and Rs15,000 to the runners-up.
Earlier, in the summit clash, JKP XI, winning the toss and batting first scored 158 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Jatin Wadhawan top scored with unbeaten 80 runs, studded with 5 delectable boundaries and 4 towering sixes, while Pankaj (32) and Farooq (18 ) runs were the other contributors.
Anuj was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, while Abhishek Choudhary and Abhishek Sharma claimed 1 wickets each.
In reply, Delhi XI bundled out for 139 runs, thus lost the match by 19 runs. Abhishek Choudhary was the top scorer with 50 runs, while Amir Malik(18), Nishant Rana (17) were the other contributors. For JKP XI, Sakib and Ashwani took 3 wickets each, while Skipper Rajesh Gill took 2 wickets and Aman and Shamsher claimed 1 wicket each.
Jatin was adjudged man of the match in the final match, Sameer Khajuria of Simula declared Best Bowler, Jatin was declared Best Batsman, while Rajesh Gill of JKP was declared man of the tournament.
The tournament was organized jointly by Simula Group of Companies, J&K Police and Atman Educational Society.
The tournament was organized under the supervision of IGP Jammu, while the other committee members included Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan, SP RK Bhat, SP Ramesh Angral, Rajesh Dhar and Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and JD Singh as umpires, while Sandeep Manchanda was the scorer.
