Jammu’s veteran athletes show promise in Mumbai Marathon

JAMMU, Jan 20: The quartet of Rajesh Padha, Parbhat Singh, VK Dogra and Mrs Pawan Sharma displayed composure and showed promise by completing the 13th edition of standard chartered full Marathon at Mumbai, recently.
There was an overwhelming participation of around 40,000 people from India and abroad. The race started from Azad Maidan to sea link and then back to Azad Maidan covering a distance of 42 kilometers.
All four athletes from Jammu finished the full Marathon and kept the state flag high.
These veteran athletes participated in the age group of 45 to 60 years.
Rajesh Padha who is now a well entrenched marathoner of Jammu with an experience of 10 half marathons and three full marathons was the inspiration for Jammu athletes.
Mr Padha completed the Marathon in 4.14 hours, Parbhat Singh in 5.09 hours, followed by VK Dogra in 6.01 hours and Pawan Sharma in 6.14 hours. Padha also broke his previous record in this Marathon.
