JAMMU, Oct 10: Jammu Sahodaya Schools Athletics Meet 2018 got off to a colourful start at Maj Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium of Sainik School Nagrota, here.
Top Schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region including the host school are participating in this three day long track and field Meet.
Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Faculty of Business Studies, University of Jammu, who is an alumnus of the School, graced the occasion as chief guest.
After an impressive March Past by the participating schools, the chief guest addressed the athletes and declared the Meet open.
The first day’s events included Triple Jump, Javelin Throw and Discus Throw for both boys and girls and also long distance races like 5000 metre run for boys and 3000 meters run for girls.
Cadet Navneet Singh of Sainik School Nagrota won the first gold medal for the school in Triple Jump (Boys) while Cadet Sarfaraz lifted Gold in 5000 meter run.
Master Bhanu Sharma of Banyan International School bagged double gold in Javelin and Discus Throw events.
In the Girls category, Sakshi Sharma of APS Damana bagged Gold in Javelin while Khushi Choudhary of Bhargava Public School Samba won Gold in Triple Jump.
Sainik School Nagrota topped the table with 39 points on day-1.
