SRINAGAR, June 19: Jammu Football XI will take on PDC XI, whereas JKP will lock horns with Iqbal Sports in the quarterfinal of the ongoing State Football Championship, being organised by J&K State Sports Council and J&K Bank Limited at Bakshi Stadium and Polo Ground, here tomorrow.
Earlier, during the first match of the day, AG Office Football team XI thrashed Arfat Football Club and registered berth in the quarterfinal of the championship. Players of both the teams played well, but Waseem of AG Office Football team finding a gap netted the goal in the ending minutes of the game and paved way for his team to enter quarterfinal round.
In the second match, J&K Bank Academy defeated Kashmir United by three goals to zero. In the first half, aggressive Salman Hussain of J&K Bank Academy team netted the goal in the first minute and raised the scorecard to 1-0 goal. In the 9th minute, Wasiq of J&K Bank Academy team with his good footwork scored the goal in 9th minute and brought the opponent team under extreme pressure. Liyaqat of J&K Bank Academy team netted the goal in the 30th minute and further raised the scoreboard to 3-0 goals. The players of Kashmir United team strived hard to win the game but failed and lost the match by 3-0 goals.
In the third match, PDC Blue trounced DFA Baramulla via tie breaker with 7-6 goals. Players of both the teams played very attacking game till end and the match ended with 3-3 goals each. From PDC Blue side, the goal scorers were Bilal, David and Salim, whereas, from DFA Baramulla side, Haroon, Mudasir and Faisal netted the goals. In tie breaker, PDC converted 4 out of five penalty kicks into goals, whereas, DFA Baramulla converted three out of 5 and thus lost the match by 7-6 goals.
The fourth match was played between Maharaja Sports and Jahangir Sports, in which latter registered win by solitary goal and advanced to the quarterfinal stage of the championship. Ashan netted the goal in the 39th minute.
