JAMMU, Apr 27: Jammu Division Selection Chess events for 2017-18 Concluded today at Ace Chess Academy, Trikuta Nagar, here. 80 Players from different districts participated in all the age categories.
Atul Kumar Gupta, President, All J&K Chess Association and Joint Secretary All India Chess Federation, Baldev raj and Taranvir Singh Gujral Vice Presidents, Dr AS Bhatia and Raj Kumar Advisors, Vijay Choudhary, Director of Ace Chess Academy were present on the occasion.
Anil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania, FIDE Arbiters conducted the matches. All the events were conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess and overall supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta.
Arushi Kotwal won in Senior Open,U-15 Girls and U-13 Girls, Avni Gupta won in U-19 Girls and U-17 Girls categories, Meenal Gupta emerged winner in Senior Women Category, Akashdeep Singh won in U-19 Boys category, Sanyam Gupta claimed U-17 Boys and U-15 Boys title, Soham Kamotra emerged winner in U-13 Boys, Divay Jain won in U-11 boys caegory, Rithwik Baboria won in U-9 Boys category, while Shreyas Magotra claimed title in U-7 Boys category and Dhwani Puri won in Girls U-11 category.
While speaking on the occasion, Atul Kumar Gupta said that kids are playing very good and Association will give best possible platform to state players.
He further said equal number of players from twin divisions of Kashmir and Jammu will participate in the forthcoming Nationals in 2017-18.
