Jammu Division Chess Tournament concludes

JAMMU, Dec 21: Jammu Division Chess Tournament concluded at Ace Chess Academy, Trikuta Nagar, here today.
The Tournament was organized by Jammu District Chess Association. Atul Kumar Gupta, president “All J&K Chess Association” and Baldev Raj, vice president distributed the cash prizes worth Rs.15000 and trophies among the winners.
Sumit Grover won the first prize of Rs 5000.
Vijay Choudhary, Director of Academy was also present on the occasion.
Anil Kotwal FIDE Arbiter was the chief Arbiter of this event.
The Tournament was conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess.
Total 5 rounds were played under Swiss System and Swiss Software which is used in International events, was used for pairings. Top twelve players from this tournament will participate along with selected players from Kashmir Division in the State Championship to be held from January 3 to January 7, 2015 at Nek Hotel Jammu.
Those who secured top 12 positions included Sumit Grover, Ajit Singh, Arvindu Sharma, Soham Gupta, Meenal Gupta, Arushi Kotwal, Ajay Koul, Soham Kamotra, Yaksh Chopra, Navdeep Singh, Puneet Choudhary and Aryavhir Koul.
The special prize winners included Simranjot Kour, Deewang Gupta, Sanjukta Sobani, Simrandeep Singh and best women of the Tournament, Khushdeep Kour.
