JAMMU, May 26: Former seven times State Champion SP Sharma won the Jammu District Chess Championship at Jammu here today. The players ranging from 6 to 70 years old participated in this event. The 10 year old Pazhany Kohli got 2nd place while 3rd place went to Arvindu Sharma. Aryan Raj Bali won 4th place and Anurag Singh got 5th place.
Alankrita Sharma got best female award, Rajyavardhan Singh won best U-11 while Aarav Gupta won U-15 best prize and Manoj Kohli got best veteran award. For the first time in Indian history world level classical timing’s event was organised at district level.
The event was organised by Jammu District Chess Association under the aegis of All J&K Chess Association under the banner of J&K Sports Council. The event was planned by Atul Kumar Gupta working president AJKCA while Baldev Raj president AJKCA supervised all the matches.
Arvindu Sharma was organising secretary of this event while Bindu Pathania was chief Arbiter and Ravi Kumar Sharma Arbiter of this event. Cash prizes of Rs 20,000 alongwith trophies were distributed among the winners. Certificates and Medals were given to all the participants.
