JAMMU, Aug 21: District Jammu emerged winners of UT level 4th Tug-of War Championship by securing sub-junior and junior titles, organised at Unique Public Higher Secondary School Gadi Garh, here today.
The championship was organised in sub-junior, junior boys and girls under the presidentship of Hardeep Singh Anand.
In the 4th Sub-junior mixed 520 kg final, District Jammu defeated District Kulgam by 2-0 sets, while in the semifinals matches, Jammu beat Anantnag District by 2-1 set and Kulgam defeated Unique Club Jammu by 2-0 sets.
Similarly in Junior mixed 540 kg boys & girls final, Jammu trounced Kulgam by 2-0 sets. In the semi-finals, Jammu beat Anantnag by 2-0 sets and Kulgam defeated Samba by 2-0 sets.
The final matches were officiated by a technical panel including Gourav Kumar Dubey (Chief Referee), Kiran Kumari (Referee) Jasvinder Singh (Umpire) and Ankit Sharma (Umpire).
President Hardeep Singh Anand was chief guest of prize distribution along with Kuldeep K Gupta vice president, Jodh Singh Isher general secretary and Jasbir Singh District Jammu president. They presented winner and runner up trophies and other individual prizes among winners, which was sponsored by Trans Asia Hotel Pvt Ltd.
Sheikh Tanveer Ahmed secretary Udhampur, Muzaffarpur Ahmed Bhat president District Anantnag, Mushtaq Ahmed Bhatt secretary Anantnag, Junaid Bin Yakub secretary Kulgam, Jagdish Raj secretary Samba, Nirmal Singh and Nirlap Kour Head of the management of the host School were present during the event.
