J&K loses to TN; Maharashtra, WB among winners

JAMMU, Feb 6: Jammu and Kashmir lost to Tamil Nadu by one innings and 18 points, while Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala registered victories in the ongoing 65th National School Games in the discipline of Kho-Kho Under-19 Boys at Khel Gaon in Nagrota.
The Championship, in which the teams drawn from 26 States/Union Territories across the country are taking part, is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
The tournament is being held under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu defeated Jammu and Kashmir in an easy contest. Mohammad Bilal of Tamil Nadu was the star performer, who scored 11 points by just playing for 1 minute and 50 seconds.
In another match of the day, Uttar Pradesh got the better of Rajasthan in a thrilling contest by 1 point. Pawan Kumar scored 5 points, while Rajan Srivastav secured 3 points for Uttar Pradesh.
West Bengal trounced Madhya Pradesh by 1 innings and 1 point. The duo of Rajiv Mandal and Kartik Das of West Bengal scored 7 points for the team.
Maharashtra thrashed Himachal Pradesh by a big margin of 1 innings and 45 points. Dalip Khandvi and Rohit Bhayaje scored 3 points each for Maharashtra.
Karnataka outplayed Delhi by 5 points, while Kerala defeated Odisha in a close contest by 1 point.
Uttarakhand got walkover against Dader Nagar Haveli, while Uttar Pradesh defeated CBSE by 1 innings and 15 points. Deepanshu and Shubham Kumar scored 5 and 4 points for the winners respectively.
