J&K fails to open account; faces defeat from Haryana by 7 wkts

JAMMU, Apr 3: In-form Haryana opener Avi Barot hit another half century (52) and Haryana posted a seven-wicket victory against Jammu and Kashmir in the North Zone T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today. After winning the match, Haryana obtained four points and Jammu and Kashmir zero.
Chasing a victory target of 123 runs, Haryana did not face any problem in achievening it as they scored 123 for 3 in 19 overs, Openders Avi Barot and Rahul Dewan (22) gave Haryana a sound start of 42 runs for the opening wicket stand before Dewan was adjudged leg before wicket to Abid Nabi. Dewan hit four boundaries in 16 deliveries.
Barot was also associated in match-winning contribution of 42 runs for the third wicket with Sachin Rana who remained not out on 30 which included two fours. Haryana lost their third wicket of Barot at 104 in 16.5 overs. He complied his half century with the help of five fours in 55 deliveries. Abid Nabi got two wickets for 26 runs.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and elected to bat. They had a disappointing start as they lost opener V Kaw (0) without opening the account. New comer Pranav Gupta too failed to score as he was bowled by Joginder Sharma and Jammu and Kashmir were two downs without any score on the board.
Opener Ishtiyaq Rasool (29, 6x4s), Parvez Rasool (35, 4x4s), AH Kawaja (not out 10) and Samiullah Beig (not out 22, 3x4s) were their main scorers as Jammu and Kashmir scored 122 for 8 in 20 overs.
Haryana medium pacer Joginder Sharma bowled a fine spell to claim four wickets. His spell was 4-1-14-4. HV Patel and J Yadav got one wicket each for 30 and 24 runs, respectively. Haryana obtained four points and Jammu and Kashmir zero.
