JAMMU, June 2: The sixth yoga session under the 40-day countdown to International Yoga Day 2026 was organized at RMPS, Chowadhi by the Indian Yoga Association (IYA), Jammu Chapter, under the chairmanship of Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Yoga Commissioner and Chairman, IYA Jammu.
The programme was presided over by Rameshwar Mengi, Chairman, Shiksha Niketan Group of Institutions, and organized under the guidance of Dr Rakshan Mengi, Director, RMPS, who welcomed members of the Indian Yoga Association and participants.
The session began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and prayer led by Sudha Chander Sharma, Senior Vice President, IYA. Ashok Gupta, General Secretary, IYA, introduced the association and highlighted the theme and objectives of the programme.
Angrej Singh, Financial Secretary, demonstrated various Yogasanas, Pranayama and meditation techniques, while Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain conducted a comprehensive yoga session and explained the benefits, precautions and correct methods of performing different postures. He also delivered an informative lecture on dopamine, its role in mental well-being, motivation and concentration, emphasizing how yoga and meditation help maintain healthy dopamine levels.
Sudha Chander Sharma led Pranayama practices, while Arun Pachnanda, Founder Member of IYA and State Vice President of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, conducted a meditation session. Ashok Gupta also spoke on the significance of yoga and conducted a Hasya Yoga session. Anju Bansal, popularly known as Swar Kokila, presented a melodious yoga song. In his address, Rameshwar Mengi lauded the efforts of Dr Jain and the IYA team in promoting yoga and healthy living.
