ITBP lifts 8th Men National Ice Hockey C’ship

LEH, Jan, 27: ITBP Ice Hockey team played under the banner of All India Police Sport Control Board (AIPSCB) lifted the 8th Men’s Ice Hockey National Championship organised by Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) with the support of Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC), here.
As many as 10 teams played 29 matches in the tournaments. The final match was played between AIPSCB and Army Services at the newly developed world standard Ice Hockey Rink at NDS sport complex.
In a thrilling match both team scored one goal each in the first half but in the final session AIPSCB team led by Captain Skarma Tashi scored two more goal while Army service could scored only one gaols thus AIPSCB lifted the Men’s National Ice Hockey Championship Cup. Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa was the chief guest on the occasion while Additional District Development Commissioner Moses Kunzang was guest of honour. IHAI General Secretary Harjinder Singh, LWSC President Namgyal Gyapo and many other guests were also present to witness the match. Extending her congratulation to the winning team DC Anvy Lavasa highly appreciated the organisers for conducting winter Ice Hockey tournament in Leh.
Talking to media persons jubilant team coach SI Sonam Paldan said that ITBP had been practicing Ice Hockey ever since the Indus water freezing in Ladakh from first week of December besides ITBP also got an opportunity to practice for two months at Ambience Mall Gurugram Haryana thus team was prepared for the winter tournament.
Pertinent to mention here that ITBP also lifted the LAHDC Leh CEC Ice Hockey tournament that concluded recently.
Similar women’s National Ice Hockey final match was played between Delhi and JK Team. Scoring 3 goals against Delhi’s lone goal JK team lifted the Women National Ice Hockey Cup 2019.
