DODA, May 24: Bhallessa Eleven and Islamia Cricket Club Banihal registered emphatic wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing All India 10th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2014, being played at Sports Stadium, here.
The tournament is being organized by Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda and sponsored by J&K Bank, Bajaj Allianz and Rashtriya Rifles Rajput Unit Doda.
In the first match of the day, Islamia Club Banihal outplayed Green Shine Club Doda by 8 wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, Green Shine Club Doda collapsed at meagre 51 runs. Abid Nabi scored 12 runs, while Syed Sagar made 7 runs. For Islamia Club Banihal, Sarfaraz and Shakeel bagged 5 and 4 wickets respectively.
In reply, Islamia Club Banihal chased the target in just 7.5 overs, losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Mujamil made 24 runs, while Sajad Ahmad contributed 24 runs to the total. For Green Shine Club Doda, Aamir wani took 1 wicket.
Sarfaraz of Islamia Club Banihal was declared as man of the match for his bowling performance.
In another match played on Saturday, Bhallessa Club defeated Meerat Cricket Club. Batting first, Bhallessa Eleven Made 136 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ishtiyaq scored 49 runs while Ahsaan added 18 runs. For Meerat Cricket Club , Umesh and Vipin took 3 and1 wickets respectively.
In reply, Meerat Cricket Club Made 111 runs in 20 overs by losing 4 wickets. Bhallessa won the match by 25 runs. Rishab was the top scorer with 24 runs and Umesh contributed 22 runs.
Ishtiyaq of Bhallessa was declared as man of the match for brilliant batting performance.
