BHADERWAH, June 17: Defeating their rivals in easy contests, Islamia Bhaderwah and Usman Sarna advanced into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Edition of Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhaderwah, under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Youth Combined Cricket Club Bhaderwah at Degree College Ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Islamia Bhaderwah got better of Doda XI by 6 wickets. Batting first, Doda XI scored 62 runs in the stipulated 15 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Vijay scored 23 runs. For Islamia, Adil took 5 important wickets.
In reply, Islamia Bhaderwah chased the target easily in 8 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Adil contributed unbeaten 35 runs to the total. For Doda XI, Farooq bagged 2 wickets. Adil was declared Bajaj Allianz man of the match.
In another match, Usman Sarna beat Ganai Brothers by 12 runs in a close contest. Batting first, Usman Sarna scored 142 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. Younis (40*) and Asif Khan (30*) were the main scorers. For Ganai Brothers, Manjeet and Vishu took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Ganai Brothers managed to score 130 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 12 runs. Sunil and Manjeet contributed 29 and 28 runs respectively. For Usman Sarna, Asif Khan claimed 3 wickets, while Waseem took 2. Asif Khan was declared Reliance man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Usman and Faisal as umpires, while Afridi was the scorer.
