IPL spot fixing case: SC refuses to hear Srinivasan’s plea

NEW DELHI, May 22:

The Supreme Court today refused to hear the application of BCCI chief N Srinivasan for reinstating him  as it’s president for non-IPL affairs of the cricketing body of  the country.
A vacation bench comprising Justices Balbir Singh Chauhan  and Arjan Kumar Sikri today declined to hear the application on priority basis.
The petitioner in his application had contended that he was feeling stigmatised.
He also prayed to the apex court the he may be permitted to conduct BCCI affairs excluding IPL.
The top court had earlier removed Srinivasan as BCCI chief till the completion of investigation by Supreme Court-appointed probe committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal in IPL spot fixing.  Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar was appointed to conduct IPL 7 tournament which is presently underway and BCCI vice-president from South Zone Shival Yadav was made its chief for conducting routine affairs of the Board except IPL.    Son-in-Law of Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan and 10 capped players including team India Captain M S Dhoni, are under the scanner of probe panel.
