JAMMU, May 26: Bringing craziness of Indian Premier League (IPL) at the doorsteps, the enthusiasts of one of the major leagues in the country are set to rock on at—‘Fan Park’—the first of its kind event here on May 28.
“IPL has worldwide connected the cricket fans and for the craziest of the fans expressing their love for cricket, players, favourite teams, IPL 2023 brings in the fans of the Fan Parks touching across 45 cities,” said Manager Cricket Operations, BCCI representative, Amit Siddheshwar, while addressing a press conference here at office of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) in the GGM Science College Hostel Ground
Siddheswar, who is here in the town for the ‘Fan Park’ event, was flanked by JKCA media manager Rajesh Dhar and senior office assistant, Manish Angral, during the press conference. He said that as the ‘Fan Parks’ arc ready to take over the IPL fever across the country, the similar event has also been planned for Jammu City on May 28 at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College ground, Gandhi Nagar from 3:30 pm onwards.
He revealed that the entry is absolutely free for the visitors and the fun and excitement will be doubled up with music, merchandise, food stalls, beverages and sonic fun activations by WL’s official sponsors. “The idea behind hosting such events is to encourage people, who do not have facilities loaded stadiums able to host IPL events or many who cannot visit the venue to witness the match after purchasing a ticket,” he said.
“Coupons will also be provided at the venue and the winner announced through lucky draw will get the jersey autographed by the IPL teams,” he revealed, adding, “Jammu was specifically already in the mind of the BCCI for two reasons. Firstly, the domestic players are doing great at the IPL level and cricket is seeing new heights in Jammu. Once the base is created, for which the process is already in progress, Jammu will definitely witness an IPL match live”.
