JAMMU, June 21: International Yoga Day was celebrated across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on the theme ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’.
Following this year’s theme of ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’ in view of COVID-19 pandemic, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar performed Yoga at his official residence. Advisor Bhatnagar in his message urged upon people to practice Yoga regularly as it is the only way to lead a healthy and harmonious life.
Directorate of School Education Jammu celebrated “International Day of Yoga” and “Yoga Week on Common Protocol” in collaboration with Directorate of ISM/AYUSH, J&K (Department of Health and Medical Education). KK Sharma, Advisor to Lt Governor J&K UT was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 4 lakh students, parents, teaching/non-teaching staff, officials participated in it while being at their respective homes, institutions and offices via online medium following the scheduled programme of DSEJ. Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu welcomed the participants. During the live event online, Satya Paul Sharma President and Jia Lal Sharma General Secretary Bhartiya Yog Sansthan J&K and professional Yog Instructor of BYS performed different Yog Asnas. Yoga Competition was also announced in which four groups were formed, in which students and teachers participated enthusiastically. They prepared their videos performing yoga at home with their family members. First two best videos were also awarded. This International Yoga Day was coordinated by Divisional Nodal Officer Fit India Movement Govind Sharma. Dr Surinder Kumar Sharma Incharge Online Classes anchored the function. Technical support was provided by JKKN and UNICEF.
As part of celebration of the 6th International Day of Yoga, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organized yoga asanas and pranayam at its Sports Complex at Katra. Employees of the Board and sports persons of the Sports Complex performed a series of asanas and pranayam under the supervision of yoga experts. The yoga sessions were also organised at the Bhawan and Bhairon as part of the celebration of International Yoga Day. In view of the present situation due to Covid-19, the employees of the Board and their families also performed yoga at their homes.
Jugal Kishore Sharma Member of Parliament BJP Lok Sabha Jammu Poonch performed Yoga with his wife and children at home in Jammu.
As part of International Yoga Day celebration, Samagra Shiksha in association with Arogya Bharti and Radio BIG FM organized live Yoga sessions at SRML Higher Secondary School Jammu. The session was joined by Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Dr Arun Manhas and senior staff of Radio 92.7 BIG FM. Meanwhile, acting on the directions of Principal Secretary School Education, Dr Asgar Samoon, an online competition was organized by Samagra Shiksha in which 300 videos displaying different Yoga Aasanas were received from the students of classes 6th to 12th from all the districts including Kashmir division which were being evaluated to screen the winners.
Under the guidance of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice J&K High Court and Patron-in-Chief J&K SLSA and supervision of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K SLSA, “6th International Yoga Day” was observed by J&K SLSA. J&K SLSA observed the day by organizing series of activities involving persons of all age groups through Yoga demonstrations, lectures, awareness sessions and workshops across the districts of UTs of J&K and Ladakh conducted by District Legal Services Authorities and their Para Legal Volunteers.
District Administration Rajouri under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh celebrated the Day by organizing a programme here at Dak Bungalow. Government officials, members from civil society, women, youth and locals participated and performed various Yoga exercises by observing social distancing norms. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion.
6th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Doda in which District Development Commissioner Dr Sagar D Doifode attended the yoga session at his residence, while officers, officials and people from different sections of society took part through online mode. Besides yoga sessions were also organised for the inmates of various quarantine centre’s on the directions of DDC Doda with social distancing.
District Administration Kathua organized a function to celebrate the Day in the premises of official residence of Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat. During the two hours long Yoga session, Yoga exercises were demonstrated by Dr Bodhpaul of AYUSH ISM. Over 1000 people joined the session through social media for which arrangements were made in advance.
Virtual yoga sessions were organized in Ramban to mark the International Yoga Day. On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan, the social media platforms was used to live stream the session of yoga. Yoga sessions were also held at different quarantine centers.
Sixth International Yoga day was marked in Reasi by holding online yoga session by department of ISM. Dr Gouri Karlopia with the help of Yoga consultants Dr Sonal Bhol and Dr Dillawar conducted the session. Over 45 participants attended the Yoga session and participants included from personnel of 6 BN CRPF, 126 BN CRPF, 1st BN IRP, general public and staff of ISM.
International Yoga Day was celebrated in Kishtwar. District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara along with the officers of district, students, teachers, staff of ISM Department, other health and security Frontline workers participated in the live session of international yoga Day programme hosted by ISM Kishtwar.
The day was celebrated at Chonwari Bhallesa in Gandoh Sub Division under the direction of Zila Yuva Prabhari Pardeep Kotwal Arya. Daya Singh Rana President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Harnad Singh Rana BJP Block President Gandoh, members of Bharat Swabhiman and many others were present. In Block Changa, Dewan Singh Yoga Prabhari Tehsil Gandoh also celebrated the day at Shingini, while Ex MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar performed yoga asans at home. BJP Mandal Pradhan Muneer Ahmed Sheikh practiced yoga with school children and other civilians.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day BJP Talab Tillo Mandal organized a programme at Ward Number 41. The programme was organized under the presidentship of Keshav Chopra President BJP Talab Tillo Mandal. Former BJP President Sat Sharma, Municipal Councillor Ward Number 41 Sanjay Baru, Additional Publicity Secretary JKUT BJP Ayodhya Gupta, JMC Chairman and Municipal Councilor Ward Number Jeet Angral, In-charge Department of Training BJP Parneesh Mahajan were among the prominent present on the occasion.
Yudhvir Sethi, J&K BJP Vice President along with party workers performed Yoga Aasans at Purani Mandi area of Jammu city.
Like other parts of the country, the 6th International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across Kargil district here today. Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, Additional DC Kargil Tsering Motup, heads of political and social organizations and elected representatives performed yoga at their respective homes with families while ensuring to maintain proper social distancing norms. As a part of the 6th Yoga Day celebrations, a video yoga contest was held among the school children of the district wherein 9 entries were received by the District Administration. Muhammad Baqir, student of Class X Government Higher Secondary School Pashkum bagged the first prize while as Stanzin Skaldan, student of Class X of Spring Dales Public School Wakha Mulbekh Kargil and Kunzes Dolkar, student of Class LKG Rigjung Public School Baroo, Kargil clinched second and third prizes respectively. Meanwhile, the jury decided to give away the 4th prize to Muhammad Hussain student of Jaffaria Academy of Modern Education (JAME), Kargil.
Parmaarth brought out a ‘Yoga Challenge’ in which people were invited and encouraged to do Yoga at home with their families and share their photos and videos. A total of 40 certificates have been provided to the participants. The members of the Trust who participated in the event are Richa Sharma (Chairperson), Nikhilesh Sharma, Nazish Wani, Nancy Kumari, etc.
FC Bhagat, President of All J&K Shri Sadhguru Kabir Sabha and BJP leader in collaboration with the civil society celebrated the Yoga Day at Kabir Bhawan village Chak-Avtara Bishnah. On the occasion Dr. Buti Ram was the master yoga trainer.

International Yoga Day was celebrated all over UT Ladakh. Chief Executive Councillor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh Gyal P Wangyal, Deputy Chairman Tsering Sandup, Executive Councillor Agriculture LAHDC Leh Phuntsog Stanzin, Executive Councillor Minority LAHDC Leh Mumtaz Hussain, MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Advisor to LG UT Ladakh Umang Narula, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas and Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya performed yoga at their residences.
Cyclists of Bicycle for Change group namely Sunil Sharma, Prakhar Baskotra, Avinash Singh Chib, Vishal Sharma, Arush Mansotra, Abhinav Singh, Advocate Rahul, Lukesh Sharma, Shubum Sharma, Shivam Singh, Annan Sharma, Vikas Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Varun Pathak, Sahil Sharma, Bharat, Mitul Mahajan, Rahul sharma, Pankaj Spolia, Sharang Dev Singh, Maninder pal Singh, Deepak, Suraj Singh, Vinit, Rohit Gupta and Arun participated in the 50 kilometer ride with full enthusiasm. The ride started from Kathua stadium and passed through Kalibari, Palli Morh, Barnoti, Rajbagh, Channi, Chadwal and finished at Dreamland Park.
District Legal Services Authority Poonch organized a yoga camp to mark the International Yoga Day in the premises of District Court Poonch. In this camp, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Poonch Madan Lal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Poonch Javed Rana Hakla, Advocate Bhanu Pratap, Advocate Gulshan Kumar, Advocate Iftekhar Ahmed Bazmi, some other members of the Bar Association Poonch, staff members of the District courts and Para Legal Volunteers participated.
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Post Office Leh. Assistant Superintendent Post Offices Ladakh Division Arvind Kher was also present on the occasion.

Department of Youth Services and Sports celebrated the Day across J&K with enthusiasm while utilizing different platforms of social and virtual media. Advisor to Lieutenant Governor J&K Farooq Khan, who has supervised the preparations and celebration of International Yoga Day by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, has expressed his joy over the mass participation of young school going children from all the zones and districts of J&K UT in the activities related to Yoga Day. Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department Sarmad Hafeez and Director General of the Department of Youth Services and Sports Dr Saleem ur Rehman highlighted the importance of the day.
Senior BJP leader and Ex-Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta led the celebrations of International Day of Yoga at home. He practiced yoga along with the people, who had come to his residence here, by maintaining social distancing in view of the challenging situation caused by coronavirus.
International Yoga Day was celebrated in District Jail Jammu in presence of Jail Superintendent and other prison officers wherein around 300 odd Inmates participated.
NHPC observed International Day of Yoga through online participation in nationwide Common Yoga Protocol demonstration. AK Singh, CMD, NHPC alongwith his family members practicing Yoga during nationwide live telecast of demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol by Doordarshan on the occasion of 6th International Day of Yoga. There was large scale participation of NHPC employees through video conferencing.
Dulhasti Power Station celebrated International Day of Yoga. As per the guidelines issued to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, Head of Dulhasti Power Station Yoginder Kotha, General Manager (I/c) advised all officers and staff of Dulhasti Power Station to participate in the programme along with their family members from their homes. On this occasion, Dr Nisha Sharma, General Manager (Medical Services) and Suresh Kumar, General Manager (Electrical) along with senior officials practiced various yogasanas.
One-Stop Centre for Women Rajouri celebrated the Day at Ward Number 6 Nowshera town Rajouri District. Scores of women present on the occasion participated in the programme and performed various yoga asans. Administrator OSC Rajouri, Nitu Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Aaradhaya Yog Trust organized a yoga session at Aerobera Luxury Partments, Channi Himmat Jammu to commemorate the day.

J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) on the occasion of International Yoga Day, organized an online yoga program which was attended by 102 candidates across J&K. Under the expert guidance of Anuja Jasrotia, Art of Living Yoga Faculty & Co-founder of Ajyoga, the participants performed yoga.
Yoga asans were performed by the youth of Gho Manhasa area. The programme was organized by Senior leader of BJP Keshav Datt Sharma. The asans were performed under the guidance of Manohar Lal. Sanjeev Sharma, Randhir Sharma, Navin Sharma, Dev Raj Magotra were among others present on the occasion.
Week long Yoga Camp organized by Yoga Medico Association (YMA) at COVID-19 quarantine centre Radha Swami Satsang Ghar Bantalab Jammu concluded today. The camp was inaugurated by Pawan Kotwal SDM North. Dr Anil Sharma MD Swasthavritta, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Sanjeev Pandey and Dr Pallavi imparted training during the camp. Dr Abhimanyu Gupta President YMA was also present on the occasion.
Vivekanada Kendra Kanyakumari Branch Jammu organized International Yoga Divas at Martand Surya Bhawan Paloura Jammu in which more than 50 participants participated. Shiva Sikarwar Kendra Poorn Kalin Karyakarta gave demonstration of different yoga asnas. Sudhir Anand gave presentation on the importance of yoga. Naveen ji Kachroo, Dr PS Pathania Kendra Utter Prant Sah Sanchalak, BL Bhat Prakalp Pramukh SRMA Kashmir, Surinder Dhar, R L Teng Senior Karyakarta of Vivekanada Kendra Kanyakumari were present on the occasion.
6th International Yoga Day was celebrated by Central University of Kashmir (CUK) via online/digital mode. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir highlighted the significance of yoga in the life of an individual. Principal Government College of Physical Education Gadoora (Ganderbal) Dr Hartej Singh, who was the guest of honour, deliberated in detail various aspects of Yoga. The event was organized by CUK’s Department of Physical Education. A number of delegates from across Jammu and Kashmir attended the event.
The 6th International Yoga Day was celebrated by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri with greater zeal and fervour by organising a webinar on “Importance of Yoga in Mitigating Depression during COVID-19 pandemic”. Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice-Chancellor of the University inaugurated the webinar. Prof BR Sharma, Dean, faculty of Health and Wellness, Sri Sri University delivered the keynote address. Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs, BGSBU was also present on the occasion.
Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research celebrated International Yoga Day under the theme – “Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family”. During the event Live Yoga and Pranayam sessions were conducted by Dr Abhishek Magotra for students and their families. A talk and a poster display was also a part of the program. Around 100 students and their families attended the session. The whole event was organized by the Swasthavritta and Yoga Department of JIAR under the guidance of Chairperson Suman Sharma and MDs–Ravish Sharma and Ritesh Sharma.
K C College of Education organized an Inter College Online Poster Making Competition to mark the occasion. Twenty-five students from different colleges actively participated in the competition. Posters will be judged by a panel of two Members namely Prof S N Manhas, Assistant Professor of GDC Thathri and Dr PK Dhar, Principal Bharghav College of Education. The event was coordinated by Assistant Professor, Priya Gupta, Programme Officer NSS, K C College of Education, Jammu.
NSS Unit of the Bhaskar Degree College organized 4-day Inter-College online Yoga competition to celebrate 6th International Yoga Day. The event was conducted under the guidance of College principal Dr S K Magotra. The total four competitions were organized out of which two were Inter- College i.e. Essay writing competition and picture collage of different yoga asanas and another two were Intra- College competitions i.e. poster making and Video of yoga asanas.
Department of Physical Education and Sports of HKM Degree College Bandipora celebrated the occasion by organizing a series of activities through Zoom App. The College involved around 100 participants from different colleges of the UT to perform various Yoga activities. The students also participated in Photograph competition. Principal of the College, Dr Mohd Amin Malik while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of Yoga in an individual’s life.
International Yoga Day was celebrated online by teaching, non-teaching staff and students of GDC Surankote. All the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets wholeheartedly performed Yoga Asanas at 7 AM to mark the occasion. The IQAC and NSS unit of the College Surankote organized various events in a week long celebrations to make this day a grand success.
To celebrate the Day amid the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi took digital media platforms to organize various National, State and College level activities for a week from 16th to 21st June. Participants were requested to participate by sharing videos while doing Yoga, Poster Making/ Paintings, Essay writing, making attractive slogans and by participating in online Multilingual Mushaira.
International Yoga Day was also celebrated in Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu (IGGDCJ). Yoga Asanas were enacted by Principal Dr Rakesh Gupta, HoDs, faculty members, doctors, staff and students within the confines of their home with the theme “Yoga @Home and Yoga with family”. Photographs and videos of Yoga Asanas were circulated via social media and other virtual platforms. The event was coordinated by Dr Akshay Gupta HoD Orthodontics IGGDCJ.
To mark the occasion, a 7-day online workshop organized by GDC Kalakote on “Yoga and Wellness” which commenced on June 15, concluded today. A total of 252 participants registered for this workshop from all over the country and took part in many events such as Essay Competition, Poster Making Competition, Quiz Competition, etc. The workshop was organized on the official Facebook page of GDC Kalakote. The valedictory session was also held online on official Facebook page of the College.
NCC wings of GDC Kathua conducted five-day-long activities with effect from 17 June to 21 June on the occasion of 6th International Yoga Day. The activities were organized under the overall supervision of Prof Assa Ram Sharma, Principal GDC Kathua. The activities conducted include Video Blog contest, Poster Making Competition, Essay Writing Competition, Quiz etc. Today, the Yoga day was started with one hour long yoga exercise session in which NCC cadets actively participated in the session from home with their families.
GDC Jourian organized a series of activities to celebrate Yoga Day from June 19 to June 21. The programme started with poster making/slogan writing competition on June 19. Eight students of the College participated in the poster making competition and eleven students participated in slogan writing competition. Fifteen students of the college participated in Essay writing competition on the theme “Yoga the Key to Wellness” on June 20. Students and members of the staff also participated in Online Virtual Yoga Class hosted today by Dr Rakesh Bharti.
In connection with International Day of Yoga, Physical Education Department of GDC Kilhotran (Doda) organized a national level competition on “Yogasanas and their physiological effects” from June 15 to 21 under the guidance of Principal, Prof Dr Javid Iqbal. 149 participants of various universities, colleges and schools from across India participated in the competition. After detailed evaluation of responses, the qualified participants were awarded with e-certificates.
The Day was celebrated by GDC Basohli with great enthusiasm. A large number of students, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and staff participated in a series of online activities organized with effect from June 17. The activities organized were an online essay writing competition, Poster cum Slogan writing competition, Surya Namaskar competition, etc. The celebrations were organized under the guidance of the college Principal, Dr PK Rao.
Government PG College Rajouri celebrated International Yoga Day by involving it NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets, who organized an online essay competition and poster competition on the theme “Yoga as Immunity Booster”. A large number of students of the college participated with great zeal, out of which 21 entries shortlisted for award of e-certificates in essay competition and 11 for the poster competition respectively. The programme was organized under the patron-ship of College Principal Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina.
GDC Thathri celebrated Yoga Week by organizing a series of online inter college events. Students of UG level from the entire UT of J&K participated in the events. The main events organized were Essay writing competition, Poster making competition and Video making competition. The third event was Asana session, in which Principal of the College Prof Basharat Iqbal briefed about the yogic exercises on the health of individuals and thereafter held a long practice session with demonstration of Asanas.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GDC Bhaderwah organized week-long activities from 14th June to 21 June. The main activities organized by the College were sharing themes, infographics, posters, uploading videos, yoga with family, participation in essay writing competition and webinar with the provision for participants/attendee e-certification. Principal Dr K K Sharma interacted with the attendees and highlighted the importance of Yoga activities in life.
Department of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with NSS wing of GDC Dharmari celebrated Yoga Day by organizing various activities. A large number of students of the College along with their family members performed Yoga exercises while staying at home. The students also participated in various online activities like online poster making competition and essay writing competition. The event was organized under overall supervision of College Principal Dr KK Sharma.
GDC Mandi celebrated Yoga Day by involving its NSS volunteers and faculty members at home. On the occasion, the college organized an online essay competition on the topic “Yoga the key to wellness”, Poster making competition, Painting competition, slogan writing competition. About 48 students participated in the activities out of which Naima Akhter secured 1st position in slogan writing, Asiya Kouser secured 1st position in painting as well as poster making competition while Afrooza Shabir secured 1st position in essay writing.
To celebrate Yoga Week, GDC Padder conducted various online intra-collegiate activities viz essay writing competition and slogan writing competition. The students also enthusiastically participated in an activity of uploading videos of themselves performing yoga with their families daily.
The NCC and NSS unit of Govt College for Women Gandhi Nagar commemorated 6th International Yoga Day by organising a weeklong series of intra and inter-collegiate activities such as poster making, slogan writing and essay writing. The motive to organise such activities was to make students aware about the benefits of yoga. The cadets were guided to practice Yoga at their home with their family members.
A webinar titled “Stress Management through Sahaja Yoga Meditation” was organized in Government SPMR College of Commerce to celebrate 6th International Yoga Day. The speakers for the event were Anish Kohli and Gaurav Srivastava who delivered an informative and interactive practical session on mediation. The webinar was conducted by Prof Bharti Slathia whereas Dr Sakshi Sharma was the organising secretary of the function.
NSS units of Govt College for Women Udhampur observed online session on the Yoga Day under the supervision of Prof Minu Mahajan, Principal of the College. The Yoga session was attended by volunteers along with their families, programme officers and faculty members. Several Asans were also performed during the session.
Keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing norms different activities related to the theme “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” were conducted by the NSS and NCC unit of GGM Science College Jammu to observe 6th International Yoga Day. The program was organized under the guidance of College Principal, Dr Koushal Smotra along with organising team.
Govt Degree College Khour organized an event to observe 6th International Yoga Day in which College Principal, staff and students performed various Yoga activities such as Yoga Asanas and Pranayam. The College Principal, Prof Hans Raj was also present on the occasion.
Two J&K Girls Battalion NCC Jammu and NSS unit of Government Degree College RS Pura concluded a weeklong celebration of International Yoga Day on the theme “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”. The event was organised under the supervision of College Principal, Dr Sunita Sudan.
NSS unit, 1 J&K NCC Navel unit & NCC Cadets of Govt MAM PG College Jammu observed the International Yoga Day by keeping in view COVID-19 pandemic on the theme “Yoga from Home. The event was coordinated by Major (Dr) Karan Singh, Associate NCC Officer, Dr Jasvinder Singh (NSS programme officer), Sub Lt Dr Joginder Singh under the guidance of College Principal, Dr G S Rakwal.
Students and faculty members of Govt Degree College Jindrah celebrated Yoga Day by performing Yoga Asans at home with their family. About 15 students uploaded their yoga performing videos on My Life My Yoga India, the website of Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Raj Shree Dhar.
Department of English of GDC Paloura in collaboration with NSS, NCC unit and Sports Department of the College organized essay writing competition and shot yoga video clips to mark 6th International Yoga Day. The first prize was bagged by Randhir Sen, 2nd prize was shared by Siksha Rani of GCW Udhampur and Rajni Sondhi of GCW Gandhi Nagar. In Yoga videos clip, the first prize was won by Rigzin Chondol, 2nd prize was clinched by Kalpana Yadav and third prize was shared by Ashish Sharma and Sourav Mahajan.
GDC Thannamandi organised two events to celebrate International Yoga Day by maintaining social distancing. In the first event, the College Principal and faculty members performed Yoga Asanas whereas in second shift 9 students performed the Yoga. About 61 students participated in online Yoga Asans whereas 21 students participated in essay writing competition.
GDC Sidhra commemorated the Yoga Day by organizing various inter-collegiate activities under the guidance of Prof (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Principal of the college. In intra-college activities, the best entry was received in “Video on Yoga Asana” from Adnan Choudhary of GDC Sidhra, Mehraj Nazir of GDC Sidhra clinched prize in essay writing whereas Mukesh Sharma of GDC Sidhra bagged prize in best Yoga Asans.
Online essay writing competition on the topic “Yoga the Key to Wellness” was organised by GDC Bani to celebrate the Day. Anil Kumar bagged first position; Sunakshi Devi secured 2nd position whereas Shoket Ali clinched 3rd position. The essay of Anil Kumar was submitted to the Director Colleges for UT level competition.
NSS and NCC units of GDC (Boys) Udhampur celebrated Yoga Day by organizing number of activities highlighting the importance of Yoga in life of students. In poster making competition, the first position went to Sonali Bharti of GDC (Boys) Udhampur. In perfect Asana competition, 1st position went to Suhasini Dogra of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur.
A series of activities were organised to observe the Yoga Day by NSS unit of GDC Women Kathua observed the Day under the supervision of College Principal, Dr YP Kundal. In essay writing, 1st position was bagged by Abhishek Pandey, Research Scholar Department of Computer Science and Applications SCSVMV University, Kanchipuram Tamil Nadu, 2nd position was bagged by Rushanka Joseph Kottakal, ICLES Motilal Jhunjhunwala College Vashi and 3rd position was bagged by Arul Penci of GCW Parade.
On the third day of Yoga workshop, GDC Vijaypur organized a common Yoga protocol drill to celebrate the day. Principal of the College, faculty members and the students along with their families members performed yoga asans. The winner of the best photograph with caption was clinched by Manisha Kumari of GDC Vijaypur whereas in the Yoga video clip competition, Raghav Banotra and Harsh Dev Singh of GDC Vijaypur and Pallvi Lakhnotra, of GDC Reasi secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
GDC Akhnoor celebrated 6th International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and zeal. The Principal of the College Dr Namarta initially briefed about the essence of yogic exercises on the health of individuals after that Prof Sunil Kumar PTI elaborated different elements of the Yoga.
GDC Ramnagar commemorated the Day by organising various activities including essay writing, video clip of Yoga asanas and quiz competition to aware the students about the benefits of the Yoga. Sakul Kharka, Praghya Gupta and Riya Kalsotra of GDC Ramnagar bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd postions respectively in the essay writing competition. In Yoga asana Video /photo competition, Rakesh Kumar, Arun Sagar and Naman Gupta of GDC Ramnagar bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
An inter-collegiate quiz competition was organised to educate students on the theme “Role of Yoga to tackle COVID-19 pandemic” by GDC Dudu Basant Garh. 1st position was secured by Nikharika Sharma of Government MAM College Jammu, second position was shared by five students of GDC Batote, GDC Mahanpur and Government MAM College Jammu whereas 3rd position was shared by two of GDC Mahanpur and GDC Batote.
GDC Nowshera organized series of activities including essay writing, poster making and two minute video clip competitions to celebrate the Yoga Day. Shuvam Mankota and Sanjeev Choudhary of GDC Nowshera shared 1st position in poster making competition while in two-minute video competition, Satish Sharma of GDC Kathua bagged 1st position.
To mark the occasion, Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu organized Online Yoga practice sessions for all the staff and students on Zoom platform. The final yoga session was attended by Sajad Hussain Ganai, Director Skill Development Department, J&K. The yoga sessions were attended by various HODs, Faculty, Staff and students of the institute. An online quiz competition was also organized for all the students and staff to spread awareness about yoga.
Jodhamal Public School celebrated International Yoga Day with not only its students but their parents as well. The school organized week long Yoga trial sessions in the evenings via Zoom wherein different Yoga teachers taught different Asanas to both the students and their parents. The sessions concluded with four mega events organized at 7 AM in the morning wherein hundreds of students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Deep Kharre, Principal of the School.
