Inter-Universities Sports Panel meets at JU

JAMMU, Dec 21: To augment State Level Inter-University sports activities on a reference made by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, a meeting of the Coordination committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Dhian S Bhau was held at the University of Jammu.
Deans/Directors of the University of Kashmir, Central University of Kashmir, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, Islamic University of Science ad Technology Awantipora,  S.M.V.D. University, G.G.M Science College Jammu, Amar Singh College Srinagar besides  Joint Director Sports Jammu attended the meeting.
The Committee members appreciated the efforts of the State Government for taking an interest in the Sports activities so that the personality development of youth is addressed through holistic measures.  The participants in the meeting discussed in detail the measures needed to develop synergies among the State Institutions of Higher Education so that besides adding to the portfolio of activities in the Universities and colleges, steps would be initiated to revive the traditional sports activities specific to different regions of the State. The members felt that the energy of youth can be channelized towards productive purposes and in the right direction by evolving a well-defined mechanism for the efficient and effective conduct of sports activities in the State. The deliberations in the meeting led to the outcome of a policy document to be submitted to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
