Inter-state Cricket tournament for blind commences

JAMMU, Oct 6: The Inter-state invitational cricket tournament for blind, being jointly organised by the Cricket Association for Blind, J&K and Cricket Association for Blind Kerala in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, commenced at MA Stadium, here today.
Ranjeet Kalra, member J&K Sports Council and member of Governing Council (Sports), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board inaugurated the championship, wherein five teams from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir are taking part in the six day tournament.
Speaking on the occasion Ranjeet Kalra reiterated that J&K Sports Council resolve to support the specially abled players and their Associations. He on this occasion also outlined the series of sports events being organised by the Council under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s flagship programmes – ‘My Youth My Pride’ and “Har Din Khel -Sabke Liye Khel.”
Secretary Sports Council, Nuzat Gul in a message to the players wished the tournament all success and pledged Sports Councils full support to the six day tourney.
Earlier, Ajay Kumar, general secretary of CAFB J&K in his welcome address thanked the Sports Council, the J&K Police and Department of Youth Services and Sports for their support in organising the tournament.
Jineesh P. president Cricket Association for Blind, Kerala also spoke on the occasion and encouraged the players.
