District Level Tournament organised in Reasi

JAMMU, May 6: Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments in various sports disciplines were held in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Satwari, Dansal, Bishnah and RS Pura Zones, while District Level Inter-Zonal Tournament was held in the disciplines of Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi at Zorawar Sports Complex, Reasi.
At Reasi, around 400 players of all the Zones of Reasi participated.
Nirmal K Choudhary, Chief Education Officer, Reasi was the chief guest on the occasion who declared the tournament open in a simple and well attended function.
Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary said sports and games help in developing overall personality of the student and inculcate the qualities of leadership, team spirit and tolerance in them.
Earlier, Romesh Chander from District Youth Services & Sports Officer Reasi presented welcome address.
The tournament is being organised as part of Annual Sports Calendar by District Youth Services & Sports Office Reasi under the overall supervision of Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
Later, Chiter Lekhka , ZPEO Reasi, presented the vote of thanks.
The matches were officiated by Ashoka Kumari, Ashok Kumar, Tour Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Naresh Kumar, Rakesh Sharma, Ajay Wadhera, Goutam Kundal, Avinash, Shamim Akhter and Mohd Riaz.
In Volleyball U-17 final, Arnas beat Pouni by 3-1. The set scores were 25-16, 24-26 and 15-10.
In Volleyball U-14 final, Reasi drubbed Pouni by 2-0. The set scores were 25-22, 25-23
In Kabaddi U-17 final, Pouni defeated Arnas by 12 points. The scorers were 31-19, while in Kabaddi U-14 final, Reasi trounced Chassana by 11 points. The scorers were 23-12.
In Kho-Kho U-17 final, Reasi got the better of Pouni by 3 points. The scores were 11-8, while in Kho-Kho U-14 final, Reasi defeated Arnas by 2 points. The scores were 9-7.
Meanwhile, at Gandhi Nagar Zone, the competitions were held in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabaddi under the supervision of ZPEO Anju Gupta at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar.
The matches were conducted by a panel of experts including Narayan Singh, Jatinder Kour, Satvir Kour, Varinder Sharma, Umesh Kumar Gupta, Palvi Sharma, Mukesh Sharma, Pooja Devi, Menakshi Bagal, Sonika Sharma and Bindu Bala.
At Jammu Zone, the selection trials in Cricket under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls were held at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Bakshi Nagar.
76 players drawn from 16 schools of Jammu Zone participated in under-17 boys category, while 44 players drawn from 10 schools took part in under-14 boys category. In Wrestling under-17 boys, Ikhlaq Ahmed of GHS Ghass Mandi emerged winner in 41-45 kg, while Junaid Iqbal, Manjeet Singh and Ankush Singh (All from SRML) emerged winners in 51, 55 and 60 kg categories and Sadiq Hussain of Ghass Mandi was the winner in 65 kg category.
Inter School Zonal level cricket trials of Satwari Zone in U-14 and U-17 boys concluded today.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Jammu districts under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour DYSSO Jammu, while Poonam Kotwal, ZPEO Satwari is the organizing secretary of the event.
The matches were officiated by Hardev Singh, Ravinder Singh, Gurbachan, Gurpreet Kour, Harvinder Singh, Vishal, Harpreet Kour, Jasvinder, Gourav, Dinesh and Kanchan Bala.
At Bishnah Zone, the Inter-School matches were held under the supervision of ZPEO Bishnah, Jeet Singh.
Govt HS Chak Jarallan defeated GHS Naugran by 5 points in Kabaddi Under-17 girls, while in Kabaddi under-14 girls final, Govt HS Chak Jarallan trounced GMS Khairi by 20 points.
In Kho-Kho under-14 girls final, Govt Girls HSS Sarore beat Gandhi Memorial School by 3 points, while in Kho-Kho under-17 girls final, Govt HS Chak Murar outplayed GHSS Rehal by 10 points.

The inter-school zonal level sports competitions of zone Dansal being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the chairmanship of DYSSO Jammu and overall supervision of ZPEO Dansal, Tarsem Singh got underway today.
Around 200 players from different schools of zone Dansal participated in the event.
S. Angad Behl from Sainik School Nagrota was the chief guest on the occasion, while the other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Zorawar Singh, Kulbhushan Sharma, Khema Arora and Taqdir Singh.
In Kabaddi under-14 boys final, GMS Seri Kalan trounced BHS Nagrota by 24-18 points, while in Kabddi under-17 boys final, BHS Nagrota beat HS Panjgrain by 18-5 points.
In Volleyball under-17 boys final, Sainik School Nagrota thrashed Koushal Public School Jindrah by 2-0 sets.
The Inter-School Zonal Level Cricket trials for boys under the age group of 17 years was conducted in the Govt. HSS Majalta today under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Majalta, Kartar Singh.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of Kharati Lal Sharma, DYSSO Udhampur.
46 students of different institutions were participated in the cricket trials at Govt. HSS Majalta.
The trials were held by Subash Chander, Kiran Bala, Daleep Singh, Devinder Sharma, Kartar Chand, Ganesh Dass, Narinder Singh, Suresh Kumar, Sham Singh, Subash, Jugal Kishore, CD Gupta, Sushil Singh, Vinod Kumar, Jyoti Devi, Varun Gupta, Arun Dev Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Manohar Lal and Kuldeep Kumar.
