KARGIL, Aug 26: Two day inter-school tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil concluded at Lungnak Zanskar.
Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsok Tashi was the chief guest on the occasion.
Incharge Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Tsering Nurboo, Zonal Education Officer Zanskar, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Headmaster Government High School Itcher, village representatives besides students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, EC Phunsok Tashi appreciated the Youth Services and Sports Department for organizing the first ever inter-school tournament at Lungnak block which will boost the morale of students further cultivating a culture of sportsmanship and competitiveness.
The EC Zanskar Affairs directed the concerned officers to organize more such tournaments in other blocks of the sub division as well and also suggested to host a sub-divisional tournament in the coming days.
Students from Government High School Thangsoo, Government High School Itcher, Government High School Jamyangling and Model Middle School Raru participated in various sporting events in Kho-kho, Volleyball, Athletics, Javelin, Shot-put and long jump under various categories.
Later, EC Phunsok Tashi gave away medals, certificates and prizes to the winners and runners up teams.
