JAMMU, Oct 7: Zonal Level Inter-School tournaments in the disciplines of Fencing, Taekwondo, Judo and Wushu of Gandhi Nagar Zone got underway at Rifle Shooting Range, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The tournaments are being held under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma and under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Gandhi Nagar, Chander Kanta.
Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports, Mool Raj was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, who motivated and encouraged the participants through inspiring speech. He said sportspersons are the messengers of peace and sports served for delight, for ornament and for agility.
Speaking on the occasion, Chander Kanta gave brief report of the activities of her Zone during the ongoing season.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the department including Varinder Sharma, Mukta Gupta, Ujjwal Gupta, Shafali Gupta, Mousmi Verma, Anthony Mattoo and Tony Mattoo.
