Inter-school creative writing, debate competition held

MENDHAR, Aug 13: Inter-school creative writing and debate competition was organized at Government Degree College, here today.
The competition for the school children of Mendhar Tehsil was organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo), with the  cooperation of Deputy Chief Education Officer, Poonch.
Students from various schools participated in this competition, which was organized under two categories of junior and senior.
While in creative writing competition, the topic for junior category was ‘Futility and Violence’ and for senior category, it was ‘Futility of Terrorism’.
Meanwhile, in debate competition, the topic for junior category was ‘Should Electricity be Subsidised’ and in debate senior category, the topic was ‘Development of Poonch: Way Ahead’.
All the participants put in tremendous hard work to showcase their hidden talent.
In the creative writing competition, Bhavya Sharma was adjudged first, while Rubia Kosher stood second in senior group and in junior group, Maryum-un-Nisha was adjudged first, while Afsha Khan claimed the second spot.
In debate competition, Sohail Ahmad was adjudged first and Anjum Hussain Shah second in the junior category, while in senior category, Ali Jawad was adjudged first and Nadeem Hussain second.
The organizers believed that such types of events help in developing essential skill of public speaking and writing skills and also go a long way to boost confidence of children to face audience comfortably. Moreover, such events will go a long way in fostering a healthy relationship between the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Army.
