UDHAMPUR, Oct 19: Provincial level inter-district Volleyball tournament for boys under-19, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports, concluded at SIKS Government HSS Boys, here today.
The final match played between Jammu and Poonch, wherein former lifted the championship trophy by defeating later in a thriller match. The tournament was under the patronage-ship of Subash Chander Chhiber, Director YS&S and under the chairmanship of Kritika Jyotsana, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and under overall supervision of DYSSO Swaran Singh.
ASP Anwar Ul Haq was the chief guest in the concluding ceremony, while Shahid Nayeem DySP (DAR) Udhampur and Anil Arora Councilor were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest advised all the players to play the game in a fair manner without any caste and creed. He also stresses upon the players to participate in such types of competitions to create a healthy atmosphere in the society and also keep themselves away from drugs.
Later, the chief guest distributed the trophies to winners and runner up teams. A memento was also presented to the chief guest by DYSSO Udhampur.
Jaswinder Singh from Jammu was declared the best player of the final match and a memento was also given to him. The commentary of the final match was anchored by Amit Sharma (PET) and Bhoopinder Singh (PET).
The final match was officiated by Manik Nargotra (1st Referee), Sanjeev Verma (2nd Referee) and Vicky Kumar (scorer).
In semifinals, District Jammu defeated District Ramban by 2-0 sets (25-12, 25-18) and District Poonch defeated District Samba by 2-0 sets (14-25, 15-7) and in finals, District Jammu defeated District Poonch by 3-1 sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 17-25)
Poonam Sharma (ZPEO), Ajit Singh (I/C ZPEO), Sham Lal Gupta, Jaswinder Singh, Ajay Sharma and many others were present during the event.
