POONCH, Oct 25: The Inter-District UT Level Cricket Competition (Under-17 Girls) commenced today in Poonch as part of the YSS Activity Calendar 2025-26, with participation from 14 districts across Jammu & Kashmir.
The opening ceremony took place at Sports Stadium Poonch and College Ground Poonch, inaugurated by Mohan Lal Sharma, ASP Poonch and Aurangzeb Ahmed, Vice Principal, SKC Degree College Poonch. ASP Sharma inspired the young athletes with the message: “Say no to drugs, yes to sports,” appreciating the Department’s efforts in promoting youth engagement.
The event has been organized under the supervision of Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch. Technical and coordination support was provided by officials including Pervaiz Ahmed, Pawan Kumar, Gurvinder Singh, and Vijay Kumar.
In the day 1 results: Poonch beat Rajouri, Srinagar beat Budgam, Anantnag beat Kathua, Udhampur beat Kupwara, Kulgam beat Jammu and Shopian beat Samba. The competition aims to identify emerging talent for state and national-level championships while promoting discipline, skill, and sportsmanship.
