KATHUA, Oct 6: Inter-District Speedball Championship, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with J&K Speedball Association concluded at Delhi Public School Rajbagh, near here today.
Dr AS Nehra, Principle Delhi Public School, Rajbagh was the chief guest on the valedictory function, SK Chalotra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer was the guest of honour, who distributed prizes among the winners.
DDC Kathua, Jatindra Kumar Singh also witnessed the match for a while and stressed upon the participants to take up this game as this game can be played on smaller grounds also.
Around 100 students drawn from Delhi Public School, Shastri Memorial School, Rose Public School, Green Valley School and Sports clubs participated in the event.
The championship was held under the supervision of Sunny Nanda, general secretary Speedball Association and the matches were officiated by Rakesh Manhas, Subash Singh Rajat Sharma, Sahil Janjua, Gurmanjeet, Rhea Tikku and Manika Sharma.
In Under-19 boys Super Solo, Atin Khajuria (DPS), first; Vishal Sharma (SMS), second and Daleep Kumar (GVS), while in Under-19 girls, Sonia Verma (SMS), Akshara and Poonam Sharma (RPS) were the winners.
In singles match, Robin Singh (SMS), Harpal Singh (RPS) and Sushant Singh (DPS) claimed positions, while in girls singles, Meena Kumari (SMS), Chehak Verma (DPS) and Megha Rajput (RPS) were the winners.
Mixed doubles events also held on the occasion.
Shastri Memorial School bagged the overall trophy, while DPS Rajbagh emerged runners-up.
