JAMMU Mar 18: Inter-Department Tournament in Table Tennis and Chess (M&W), being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, began at Varsity Gymnasium Hall, here today.
Earlier, in Table Tennis (Women), Psychology Department beat Law School by 2-1. In Singles, Mridula defeated Antra Pandit by 11- 0, 11- 1, while Aman lost to Bhuvaneshwari by 11-06, 11 -07 and in Doubles, Mridula and Aman drubbed Bhuvaneshwari and Antra by 11-3, 11-5.
In Men Section, Economics Department outplayed MCA Department by 2-0. In Singles, Sahil beat Vishav Gandotra by 11-07, 11 – 06 and in Doubles, Rajesh Singh got better of Manoj Choudhary by 11-8, 11-6.
In another match, History Department beat Commerce Department by 2-0. In Singles, Shubham Singh beat Nawang by 11-07, 11 – 06 and in Doubles, Vikas Singh defeated Bhushan Sharma by 11-5, 17-18, 11-5.
In the 3rd match, ICCCR and HRM beat Mathematics by 2-0. In Singles, Abhinav prevailed over Ajay by 11-01, 11 – 08 and in Doubles, Ayush Sharma toppled Bhageshwar Sharma by 11-3, 11-6.
In Chess Women Section, Economics Department beat Law School by 2-0, while in Men Section, Environment Science defeated Chemistry Department by 2-0 and Law School prevailed over Bio- Technology Department by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Sushil Kumar, Gaga Kumar, PD Singh, Ankit and Narinder.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Department Cricket (Men) Tournament, Department of Mathematics defeated the Department of Chemistry by 9 wickets, Political Science Department prevailed over the Department of Physical Education by 2 wickets and Botany Department defeated Zoology Department by 20 runs.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Vijay Dogra, Raman Kumar, Satpal, Mukesh Sharma and Rajkumar Bakshi.
The matches are being organized under the overall supervision of Prof. Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
