JAMMU, Mar 15: The Gandhian Studies Centre of GGM Science College, Jammu, in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family, J&K Chapter, organised one day Inter-College Symposium on the topic “Relevance of Truth and Non-Violence in Present Era” in order to promote the Gandhian Philosophy among the public in general and the students in particular.
Twenty six  participants along with their teachers from all the Colleges of Jammu and Samba districts took part in the event.
Prof. Nirmal Narayan, peace loving teacher was the chief guest on the occasion, while Padam Shri SP Verma, president, Gandhi Global Family (J&K),  Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan, Jammu, Rakesh Wazir, president Hotels and Restaurant Association, Katra. Prof BL Gupta, Nodal Officer, Cluster University and R L Bharti, former Member, Public Service Commission, Jammu were the guests of honour.
Padam Shri Verma presented a brief introduction about the aims and objectives of organising such symposia at national and international levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Narayan stressed upon the increased need on the part of young generation to follow the footprints of the great Mahatma and at the same time respect their parents. Guests of honour also presented their views on the occasion.
Earlier, welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries, Dr Ajeet Angral, Nodal Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu, advised the students to participate in such symposia and practise and promote the philosophy of Truth and Non Violence in their day to day life.
Based on the judgement of the jury comprising of Abdul Majeed Bichoo, Sr. Tejinder Singh and Manish Joshi, Shivika Thakur of GCW Gandhi Nagar stood 1st, while Sangpriya Sharma of GCW Parade bagged 2nd spot and Prateek Sharma of GGM Science College, Jammu claimed 3rd position. The awardees were given cash prizes of Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 respectively by the Gandhi Global Family.
Dr Ranvijay Singh and Dr Vinod Bakshi coordinated the event, while Dr Anuradha Pandoh presented the keynote address.
The proceedings of the programme were presented by Prateek Sharma and Ragini Manhas.
