JAMMU, Mar 4: An Inter college symposium was organized by the Environment unit of MIER College of Education under the Project NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign 2012-13) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forests.
The theme of the symposium was “Impact of Climate Change on Food Security” Prof J P Sharma, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture and Technology, Chatha, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions, Dr Annie Kaul, HoD, Dr B L Raina HoD, Rajendra Praveen HoD Special Education (MR) and other faculty members of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion.
Dr Mohinder Singh, Senior Scientist Incharge, Dryland Research Substation Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture and Technology, Bari Brahmana, Jammu; Dr Jai Kumar, Junior Scientist, Agronomy Dryland Research Substation, SKUAST, and Dr P L Kaul, OSD, MIER, Jammu were the honorable Jury members.
10 students from various Colleges of Education across Jammu city participated in this symposium. The students presented their views on the theme. On the basis of the results given by Jury members, Gurpreet Kaur from MIER College of Education clinched the 1st prize, Ms Asma Bukhari representing KCS College of Education for Women won the 2nd prize and Ms Megha Sharma of K C Gurukul College of Education secured 3rd position. Certificates were also distributed to the participants.
Monika Bajaj, Incharge, Environment Education unit presented the formal vote of thanks.
