JAMMU, Jan 7: Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh felicitated Inspector Rajesh Anand of J&K Police for winning gold medal in 57th Roller Sports Championship (Roller Hockey) held at Vishakhapatnam, recently.
Inspector Anand of J&K Police represented Masters J&K Roller Hockey team as captain in 57thRoller Sports Championship (Roller Hockey) which was held at Vishakhapatnam (AP) where J&K UT team was declared champion when it defeated the Chandigarh UT team in the final match and clinched gold medal.
The officer has represented country in international sports events from the year 1987 to 2010 and has remained captain of the Indian team for 13 years. Indian team has won 5 bronze medals in Asian Championship held at China in 1989, South Korea (1997), Korea (2010), China & Taiwan (2010) under his captaincy.
In the year 2002 he qualified International Referee exam conducted in Portugal and thereafter participated in various Asian and World Championships as referee.
Presently the Officer is the coach of Indian Roller Hockey Team since 2004 and also functioning as National/International Referee of Roller Hockey and is representing India in various Asian and World Championships.
In the year 2003 the officer name was entered in the LIMCA book of world records for being the team leader of “Rally on Skates” on the world’s highest motorable road from Leh to Khardung-la which was organized by J&K Police.
In recognition to his distinguished services he was conferred with Sher-e-Kashmir Award in 1991 by J&K State Government, Best Goal Keeper award in 32th National Championship at Patiala, Best Sports Person Award by J&K State Government in 2006, DGP Medal in 2006, Police Medal for Meritorious Services 2018 by GoI.
