Hyderabad gains 1st innings lead; Pranav shows promise

JAMMU, Nov 9: Hyderabad scored decent 238 runs to gain a much needed first innings lead of 74 runs over Jammu and Kashmir in the CK Nayudu Trophy Under-25 boys’ 4-day match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
J&K were 78/3 at stumps on day-3 today, with middle-order batsman Pranav Gupta showing promise and scoring valuable unbeaten 41 runs off 84 balls, studded with 6 delectable boundaries. He hit the ball with fluidity and grace. Umar Nazir was the other not out batsman on naught.
Earlier, resuming from overnight score of 10 without loss, Hyderabad rode on a brilliant century by G Rahul Singh to score a decent total of 238 runs and gain lead of 74 runs. Rahul scored 102 runs off 110 balls with 12 boundaries and one six, while SS Palakodeti, TD Agarwal and PJ Jhala contributed 26, 25 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For J&K, speedster Umar Nazir was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 important wickets, while left-arm spinner, Amir Aziz claimed 3 wickets. Mehjoor Ali Sofi and SS Shah also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K were struggling at 78/3 in their second essay when the stumps were drawn today. UN Mir (12), Sidharth Magotra (2) and Gokul Baru (9) were the batsmen back into the pavilion. For Hyderabad, Kamran Khan, KP Naidu and SS Palakodeti shared one wicket each.
