Hiranagar Hockey Club seals berth in final

JAMMU, Aug 24: Outplaying Singh Hockey Club Bandu Rakh by two goals to one (2-1) in a close contest in the semifinals, Hiranagar Hockey Club sealed berth in the finals of the ongoing Ist Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Jr Hockey Gold Cup, being organized by Young Star Hockey Club, here.
Now, in the summit Clash, Hiranagar Hockey Club will lock horns with Zorawar Hockey Club at the same venue on August 31, 2014 at 4:30 pm onwards.
According to the organizers, Minister for Sports, Raman Bhalla will be the chief guest on the valedictory function.
Earlier, in the semifinal today, Sandeep Singh of Hiranagar Club scored the first goal in 15th minute of the match, which was followed by another goal scored by Ashwani Jasrotia in the 24th minute to give Hiranagar a decent lead. However, Agaldeep Singh of Singh Club reduced the lead by netting a goal in the 40th minutes to make it (2-1). Finally, Hiranagar Club won the match by the same margin.
Gumeet Singh, Surinder Singh Sodhi and Kuldeep Singh Bhatti were the guest of honour on the occasion, while the match was officiated by Vijay Vaid, Daljeet Singh, Parshotam Lal and P P Singh.
