Haryana beats J&K by 13 runs

JAMMU, Feb 25: Suberb batting by J&K skipper Parvez Rasool of 86 runs off 85 balls Bandeep Singh’s 51 and Abid Mushtaq’s 46 runs failed to register a win over Haryana in the ongoing 50 overs Hazare Trophy and lost the match with low margin of 13 runs, played today at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
Although, the trio displayed their outstanding batting after the dismal performance of openers-Suryansh Raina and Vivrant Sharma, followed by Shubham Khajuria and Shubham Singh Pundir who contributed only 14 runs by making individual score 8, 5, 20 and 2 runs respectively.
The J&K skipper scored 86 runs off 85 balls studded with 10 boundaries and two sixes while Bandeep Singh made 51 runs with the help of four boundaries and one six and Abid Mushtaq made fire quick 46 runs with the help of five skyrocketing sixes and single boundary. Mujtaba Yousuf remained not out, whereas seasonal consistent player-Abdul Samad made only five runs and gave his wicket to SP Kumar by facing only six balls.
Earlier, the J&K won the toss and elected to field first. Haryana made 308 runs by losing only six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. One down SR Chauhan scored highest 123 runs by facing 131 balls studded with 16 boundaries while opener-CK Bishnoi made 45 runs and gave his wicket to opponent team skipper Rasool and RP Sharma fired 51 runs by facing just 36 ball with the help of six boundaries and one sixes. Pramod Chandila scored 29 runs whereas SP Kumar and JJ Yadav remained not out.
For J&K Mujtaba Yousuf and Auqib Nabi clinched two wickets each and captain took one wicket, whereas for Haryana Arun Chaprana was the wrecker-in-chief who took four wicket by conceding only 35 runs, while SP Kumar bagged three wickets and AH Hooda, JJ Yadav and Mohit Sharma clinched apiece for their team.
Arun Chaprana took four important wickets including opener, Suryansh Raina, Shubham Singh Pundir, Captain Rasool and Nazir and all out the J&K at 295 runs in five balls left from the stipulated overs.
