JAMMU, Sept 6: Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust launched the 10 days scholarships distribution camp, today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Trustee said that scholarships will be distributed among 550 students over the next 10 days and everyday about 60 to 65 students will be invited along with their parents to collect the scholarship.
Around eighty percent of the students are girls from rural areas including Hiranagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan and Saruinsar, etc.
R. Mahaldar, patron-Satchel Institute for promotion of Music, Art and Literacy among underprivileged and slum children was the chief guest on the first day of the occasion.
Mr Mahaldar addressed the students and the parents about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the Trust.
Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust has been awarding scholarships since 1997. Initially HBET started by supporting 12 children and this year the Trust is reaching out to 550 children. The Trust aims to cover as many rural children as possible in and around Jammu.
Besides Scholarship distribution, the students of class 1 to 10 will participate in assessment tests. Selection tests for new students will also be conducted of class 1st to 3rd.
