SRINAGAR, Oct 26: Governor, Satya Pal Malik has ordered an inquiry into alleged maltreatment of the players of J&K’s Under-16 Cricket Team by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) while they were travelling from Srinagar to Amritsar today.
Taking serious note of the media reports in this regard, Governor while ordering an inquiry into the whole issue, has directed the JKCA authorities to ensure best possible facilities for the players, both within and outside the State. He said not only JKCA, but all the sports authorities in the State should ensure that the local sportspersons are comfortably placed while participating in any sports event.
Pertinently, according to media reports JKCA today carried Under-16 players from Srinagar to Jammu, on way to Amritsar in a bus and they were lodged in a Class-3 hotel in Jammu, while JKCA authorities themselves travelled by air and stayed in 5-Star hotels.
However, refuting the allegations, the official of the Under-16 team said that the team along with support staff travelled by AC Tempos from Srinagar to Jammu and the players have been lodged in Hotel Savoy in Jammu.
